SMD-12 Stored Message Display unit - $259

The SMD-12 Stored Message Display is designed to allow messages to be displayed with simple contact closures connected to screw terminals, and to allow these messages to be edited and stored permanently in the display unit. It can also act as a switch contact or pulse counter when in the counter mode.

It features eight 0.56 inch height 14-segment green LED display digits and will scroll messages that are over 8 characters. It can store 12 messages of up to 32 characters.

The SMD-12 does not require a computer or any other device to store messages or display these messages. Messages can be entered and stored by using switches mounted on the unit. For those wishing to use the SMD-12 with a computer however, an RS-232 serial port connection is provided, along with commands to store and display messages.

The SMD-12 is provided with a utility program and a prepared mounting enclosure as part of the standard SMD-12 package.

The SMD-12 comes with the following items:

  • Reference manual
  • rugged steel enclosure
  • RS-232 cable for connection to IBM PC compatible serial port
  • software distribution disk
The SMD-12 is shipped with all items needed to place it into immediate service except the power supply.
