The SBC-1 provides the control system designer with a complete development package that was designed from the ground up to make their system prototyping, development, and final assembly quick and easy. The SBC-1 owes its ability to provide this simplicity and convenience by providing the following standard features:

  • Venerable 80C51 processor with 8K of EEPROM and 8K of RAM
  • Powerful ROM based monitor and developer interface including commands that allow the SBC-1 to be operated as a "slave" to any RS-232 device
  • 50 digital I/O signals when used in its maximum I/O configuration (24 logic level inputs, 2 interrupt inputs, 24 open collector outputs)
  • One 0 to 5 volt 8 bit analog to digital converter input (or 12 bit with the SBC-1-AD12)
  • 50 pin I/O connector to connect industry standard I/O "brick" modules and racks where each one of 24 I/O signals can be selected as an input or output
  • Terminal block connectors to allow quick connection to many of the signals
  • Two RS232 physical ports with DB9 connectors
  • Real-time clock that can be set or read from the monitor or TinyBASIC
  • Serial upload and download capability to store and retrieve user programs
  • On board specially enhanced TinyBASIC programming language with functions and variables defined for the SBC-1 specific I/O, serial, and real-time clock
  • System I/O routines in a "call table" toolbox for user access
  • All chips installed in sockets for easy replacement if necessary
