1. The RC51 includes a version of Tiny Machine Basic that supports SIRCS infrared transmission through an IR sensor connected to the INT signal.

2. The GND, INT, and +5 connections at the 3 pin screw terminal block on the RC51 are used exclusively for the Industrologic IRS-40 infrared sensor wires, Ground (black), Signal (white), and +5 (red) respectively. (Note that like any infrared sensor, the IRS40 should not be mounted where sunlight or other sources of strong light can affect it.)

3. The GND, DI1, DI2, and DI3 connections at the 4 pin screw terminal block on the RC51 are used to select program options. Short jumper wires connected to the ground connection GND can be used to set digital input signals DI1-DI3 to logic low levels. The RC51 is shipped with no jumper wires connected to ground, making all of the digital input signals logic high.

4. The RC51 is pre-loaded with a Tiny Machine Basic program that interprets SIRCS infrared transmissions to activate relays. The program has several modes of operation which are selectable with the jumper wires.

The following is a table of logic levels and the modes selected. H=high (not grounded), L=low (grounded).

DI1 DI2 DI3 MODE
 H H H 7 (factory default)
 H H L 6
 H L H n/a
 H L L n/a
                         time delay
 L H H 3 0.5 SEC
 L H L 2 1 SEC
 L L H 1 5 SEC
 L L L 0 10 SEC
Mode 7. Alternates relays 1-8 on/off when buttons 1-8 are pressed. The programmable LED on RC51 flashes to indicate button presses that are valid to the program.

Mode 6. Operates relays 1-8 when buttons 1-8 are pressed followed by Volume Up (relay on) or Volume Down (relay off) button. The programmable LED on the RC51 turns on when buttons 1-8 are pressed and turns off when the volume up or down button is pressed. (This mode can be used when there are other devices in the vicinity that might pick up the remote control signal. The combination of a single number and volume up or down is not recognized as a valid command by most devices.)

Modes 3, 2, 1, and 0. Momentarily turns on relays 1-8 when buttons 1-8 are pressed. The amount of time the relays are on is specified by the mode selected. The programmable LED on the RC51 flashes to indicate button presses that are valid to the program.
