The Industrologic LED-8 is a companion display board for the SBC-1 that provides an easy to interface and easy to program LED display for the SBC-1.

Summary of Features

Contains four Liteon LTM8647 or equivalent 2-digit 14 segmant alphanumeric LED displays with 0.56 inch height characters, providing a total of 8 alphanumeric characters plus common punctuation.

Connector pinout matches the IOEXP connector of an Industrologic SBC-1 single board computer for easy connection to these computers, and operates on the 5 and 12 volt supplies provided through the connector.

Shipped complete with ribbon cable to quickly and immediately connect to an SBC-1 and begin displaying messages.

Note: Although the LED-8 obtains its power from the connection to the SBC-1, the power supply shipped with the SBC-1 does not supply sufficient current for both devices when used in most applications. A power supply rated at 12 volts regulated or unregulated at one amp is suggested when powering both devices.

Mechanical specifications

P.C. Board is double-sided .062" FR-4 glass epoxy printed circuit board and has 4 holes available for mounting to enclosure or #6 standoffs.

P.C. Board dimensions:

Electrical specifications

Power Supply:

The LED-8 display obtains its power from the SBC-1 IOEXP connector and therefore presents an additional load to the SBC-1 power supplies as follows: 5 volts at 20 mA, 12 volts (unregulated) at 480 mA with 8 asterisks displayed (64 out of 112 segments turned on simultaneously).

Note: Although the LED-8 obtains its power from the connection to the SBC-1, the power supply shipped with the SBC-1 does not supply sufficient current for both devices when used in most applications. A power supply rated at 12 volts regulated or unregulated at one amp is suggested when powering both devices.

Operating Environment:

Temperature: 0-50 degrees Celsius (32-122 Fahrenheit) Humidity: 30 to 80 percent, non-condensing Optional conformal coating as a special order item. (Contact Industrologic, Inc. for more information.)

Control Signals:

The LED-8 control signals are TTL compatible and are driven by signals on the the SBC-1 IOEXP connector.

Connecting the LED-8 Display to the SBC-1:

Connection is made from an LED-8 to an SBC-1 with a 16 conductor ribbon cable having a 16 pin (8 pin by 2 row) 0.1 inch IDC header on both ends. When plugging in the cable to these devices, make sure that pin 1 of the each header goes to pin 1 of the connector on the LED-1 and SBC-1.

Insure that the SBC-1 is powered by a power supply with sufficient current to power both the SBC-1 and the LED-8. The power supply shipped with the SBC-1 may not supply sufficient current for both devices when used in some applications where the messages have many segments on at the same time for long periods of time. A power supply rated at 12 volts DC regulated or unregulated at one amp is suggested when powering both devices.
